I had no idea Gabe and the gang could dance so well.
After completing SF1 it was on to SF2, but after checking what I had unlocked I realized that I had never completed hard mode. Then I remembered I could not get the hard mode code to work all those years ago, so I figured out how to activate the code and it was finally time for hard mode.

As most of you would know you unlock four bonus movies while you play on hard mode. Now my favourite FMV in SF2 is 'Rendezvous at Club 32' where Gregorov's impostor walks on to the dance floor and busts out some big moves. So you can imagine how happy I was when after all these years I finally get to see the infamous dancing Gabe and the gang.

Yeah, this movie is completly ridiculous, but still very funny.

Although the other three are less entertaining, I like watching them. Especially the two first which present early stage of the game development.

Also, hard mode was bloody hard. I swear out of the 300 or so enemies I had to eliminate, 250 of them had instant head shot capability. Some of the enemy spawning was crazy and other aspects were insane like on mission 5: McKenzie Airbase Exterior you have to eliminate Falken and steal his Blackhawk helicopter right.

Well Falken doesn't walk to the chopper on hard mode, he bloody sprints like he's being chased by a killer dog or something so you have about 6 to 8 seconds to run up and tazer the MP guard bust out your sniper rifle and take one shot at him while he's running. It was bloody hard alright, but I did have immense fun with the challenge.

Yeah, Hard Mode in SF2 is damn hard! Nothing like to SF1 or 3, which are not that difficult.

You're right, a whole lot of enemies will no headshot you in SF2. A certain number among them are not event there in normal mode. So not only to you have to deal with more skilled enemies, you also have to face more of them!

I think the toughest level was for me Pharcom Expo Center (mission 9). It's been a long time since I played in hard mode, but I think it is were I struggled the most.

I also had a hard time with Falkan in level 5. The running makes it 1000 times harder than usual.

I also have some souvenirs of Volkov Park (mission 13). Even at normal difficulty, getting behind the statue with Gregorov shooting at you is hard (you have to use the trees as cover, but one false step and you're zapped!) But in hard mode, you'll have in addition to deal with an ennemy located in some building roof to the right. And he also tries to headshot you.

That particular point in the Volkov park mission is very hard indeed, chasing Gregorov's imposter with 5 men shooting at your head is also very hard, I'm just glad they give you some Grenades and the M79 to take them on.

And I can remember getting head shot in the middle of a roll, falling of a ledge, looking around a corner and I swear I got head shot through a wall once.

I just completed SF3 and it was a walk in the park compared to SF2 on hard mode. I may play it again but on hard mode this time because I completed it in two days, it took me 4 or 5 days to complete SF2 on hard.

Eh I don't really remember having that much trouble on hard more, sure it was harder but for most missions I couldn't notice it. But that was when SF2 just came out. I was really addicted lol.

In the prison where you have to free Gregorov was the part I had trouble with. You HAVE to silently come past the last part there or else Gregorov most likely will die.

Yeah, you have a lot less time in Aljir Prison.

I know what you mean when you say you got headshot in the middle of a roll or through a wall. It happened to me to, but it's actually not what is happening. In fact, the bullet that hit you was fired before you started the roll or got behing a wall. It takes about a little less than 1 second for the bullet to get to you. However, it seems that the hit is acknowledge when the bullet is fired. That means that even if you have time to move during that less-than-1 second, the bullet will still got you because you were considered as hit when the shot was fired.

It seems odd and too complex for nothing, but it happens a lot actually. And even more to enemis that you shoot (they will move but still get hit).

Oh right. It's true, it's a lot harder. It's actually only then that I learned how to remain stealthy when you're on the wall!

No it's alright.

I'm currently working on a guide for SF2 (in French only, sorry...), so I have to go through the game. That means I'll also have to go through Hard mode, since I'll be including a section about it. I'm really looking forward to it. In my souvenirs, that was a hell of a challenge (maybe the hardest of all SF...) and a great opportunity to bring your skills to the next level.
