Yeah we are a little more populous then Australia, but not that much. We are still a "small" country on the world scale. Most games are not even translated to respect the bilingual caracter of our country. I guess that as things go, the industry will give more consideration to Canada and Québec in particular, just like it did with movies.

Yeah I guess its sad for the French-Canadian population, but since your TV frequency is NTSC, you will be doomed never to get games in French.

Exactly. Unless, like a few (but rare) companies do, they decide to translated a game only for the Québec market. We are only 7 million people, but if they can release game containing multiple languages in Europe, I'm sure they could do the same for North America (how about games in Spanish for Mexico and the US West coast?).

Really you don't have your own video game classification system in Canada? Surely I thought you would since your country is bigger then mine.

Maybe it's because we are sharing the video games creation. For example, some games are developed here in Canada but are edited by american companies. Also, a lot of us buy games from the United States, and some americans buy games here, depending on the price. So having two different rating systems would be meanless.

Anyway, most of the stores sell any game to anyone regardless of the rating or the age. They can't do this (I think it's illegal) but in fact the rating is, for me, not what it is supposed to be. When the ESRB rates a game, it's looking at a video (usually the trailer) and at some pictures then they give a rating, without even trying the game first.

Yes I agree. That rating system is virtually meaningless here. Sellers couldn't care less as long as they sell their stuff. And there are no inspectors or whatsoever to make them respect the ratings.

But I didn't know that they didn't even try to game, whoever is in charge of those ratings. But in a sense, that doesn't surprise me at all.

That's just because they don't take time to do their job the way it has to be done. They just want to rate as many games as possible, and also to make money.

Personally I prefer games not to be translated into mother languages. That's one of the biggest reasons it takes so long for games to arrive in Europe. But I also understand that there is a large population out there who cannot understand English. However playing games and message boards made me good at English.

For me I think a big 35% of my English comes from Ace Combat : all kinds of dialogs, and subtitles.

Yeah I think playing Japanese games taught me better Japanese then my Japanese teacher did at school.

Anyway a new trailer of Retribution has been released, link below.

http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=_nncV9hOyZQ

It basically gives hints to the story, I can tell you what it looks exciting. Hopefully the story is good, because the one in Logan's Shadow was weak, maybe because it was the only one John Garvin didn't write.

Is it? I didn't know that.

And that trailer looks cool. Indeed the storyline seems well constructed. Who is writting this one? Is it Garvin?
