I get what you mean. I'm a little discouraged because it's a lot harder than I expected. Besides, it looks like you can't save unless you are inside an elevator shaft, which is odd. And it's very frustrating to have to start all the way back because you got killed and couldn't save.

But if you really like the game restarting a mission a lot of times souldn't be a problem.

For example, I have Burnout Revenge at home, and, during a time trial, I was always doing about half of a second over the required time. But I restarted about 25 times and finally had it.

Sure there's a difference between gunshooting and fast precision driving but each time you restart you'll know better and will be rewarded sometime.

Yeah, but MG ain't like MGS3. And besides, no matter how good the game is, it's still annoying when you don't have enough checkpoints.

If was easy, then wheres the fun? You could always give MG2 a shot, theres a more checkpoints. A checkpoint in the game is when you see the FOXHOUND logo.

If you think MG is annoying, you should try Fear Effect on the PS1. I brought it at Gametraders for $10AU a few weeks ago. You dies so many times in the game, every time you die you have to go through a long process of loading your last save. I can tell you one thing there are few time you can save in this game. But its a good game, best graphics ever on a PS1 and a great plot.

I like when the game provides some challenge. What I don't like is having to go through the same part that I went through again and again because I keep on dying later on.

You're right. I prefer games where it's hard, but where you can advance at a reasonable speed.

You think Metal Gear on the MSX is annoying, try the NES version, when you die you go back to the start of the game, your progress made in the game is the saved, but you resprawn at the start. Could never finish it, because I was so frustrated playing it.

But I read you don't even fight Metal Gear at the end! But a giant super computer.

You mean in the NES version? What a disapointment...

I think they could have been a little more generous with checkpoints in the MSX/PS2 edition. They had the technical excuse with the NES, but that doesn't hold anymore.

Actually it is possible to have checkpoints on the NES. The makers of the NES version of Metal Gear, made an sequel called Snake's Revenge (which is a spin-off and is not an official Metal Gear game). It featured checkpoints throughout the game.

I'm almost done with MG. Once you know that checkpoints are in the elevator shaft, it's not that bad. The thing is that it's never mentionned at any point during the game, so you have to find out yourself and most of the time at your own expand.

Yes the big problem with the 2D Metal Gears with Subsistence is the manual neglected any information for the two games.

This link is helpful.

Guess the site's back...

Well, if you search for good FAQs you can find some at IGN.com.

I was already usgin a FAQ from GameFAQs.com and fortunately I did because I would have lost my patience a lot sooner!

Anyway, I wished I had seen the Konami site sooner too.

I found a new copy of MGS: Potable Ops the other day, I asked my mate who works at the gaming store to put it aside until Monday for me. The only problem is I won’t be able to buy PSP as well... damn it.

I’ll have to wait until next pay to get one (two weeks), I did the same thing with the PS2; bought a copy of MGS2 (the bonus disk version which was a limited release), then had to wait until I had enough money to buy a PS2.

Also, I can’t wait to play Logan’s Shadow and all the other awesome PSP games.

After all this... the PS3 will be next... I’m already getting prepared for it.

P.S. Sorry about my last post Gabe, I got very worked up. From now on I will only post about games.

I had a similar story with MGS4, I pre-ordered it but didn't get a PS3 a few months later :D .

P.S. Have you finished Metal Gear 2 MSx2 yet Gabe?

I'm not even close to the end! I actually haven't really touched the game since quite a long time now. My attention has been drawn away by so many projects, and with university and all...

It's the same thing with the PS3 my brother bought. It stands still in the middle of my basement, just outside my room, for like a full month now, and I haven't tried it not once yet!

You still have the most expensive of the two to get, so you've got a rather good excuse. I don't!
But on the bright side, the more we wait, the more the prices will drop! 8)

They will probably soon release a smaller new PS3 with a cheap prictag. Similar to the Slim PS2 and PSone.
