To be honest Dark Mirror is a great game but it's nothing like how the old Syphon Filters felt. Logan's Shadow, while I haven't seen everything it just seems Gabe getting betrayed again like in SF2. Syphon Filter 1 was so awesome that I played it over and over, the same goes with SF2. I remember perfecting headshots, praticing for SF3 so I would own all those levels easily. I loved how Teresa wasn't dead and her awesome levels you play as her. It did take a while to get used to Omega Strain but it was really deep and awesome music.

I know DM couldn't be too deep but now we have LS too and saw the video's of it. While it's good (I like DM a lot better though), in my opinion the SF series should have ended after The Omega Strain. I hope there won't be a new SF unles it get's back to it's roots and return the Syphon Filter virus and a deep storyline that connects the old SF's, DM and LS very well together.

I don't like to compare MGS and SF but Metal Gear Solid maintained it's quality throughout the series all the time, this is something that SF lacks. While DM and LS are great shooter games, especially considering they are PSP games I just don't think they belong in the Syphon Filter Saga.

You are right in one sense, e.i. DM and LS provides storyline that are not linked to the virus affair, which ended in The Omega Strain. It is true that strickly talking, the series could have ended there.
DM and LS are more like a gift for SF fans: the storyline compares to other action/espionnage games, but it still has some feeling (created by the caracters being the same, most of all) of being part of the series we liked so much.
I think DM and LS find their justification in the fact that, although the virus affair is behind, there are still paths left unexplored concerning the main characters (we learn a lot about Gabe in DM). These two games then bring that conclusion that was missing, the storyline being more of a pretext to it.
