The reason for the graphics is because the PS2 cannot handle awesome graphics + traffic, crowds of people on the streets.
Not true, I just got Driver: Parallel Lines and the graphics are awesome, much better than any GTA game. The graphics are somewhere between Gran Turismo 4 and Need for Speed: Carbon, I was really surprised when I saw just how good the graphics actually were.
Gabe, if you don’t like the joke-like atmosphere of the GTA games (I know exactly what you mean) then this game is for you! Set in New York in the 70’s at first, you play as TK, a wheelman for small-time criminals. You end up working your way up to the big time but then something goes wrong… 28 years later in the year 2006 TK returns to New York to repay those that deserve it…
I was going to get Mafia but then I saw this game and the memories of playing Driver and Driver 2 started to return (Driv3r was no good), I had heard Driver: Parallel Lines was a great game so I couldn’t resist. Another reason that I choose this game over Mafia was the fact that you get to drive around in 70’s muscle cars instead of 1930’s cars.
Seriously, this game is awesome. I am actually starting to like this game more than the GTA series, Driver and Driver 2 started this type of gameplay, GTA III, GTA VC and GTA: SA took what Driver had and made it better, but this game has taken the good aspects of both series (like side-missions and car collection) and made one fantastic game.
