I only own a PSX and a PS2, so it's without any surprise that I voted for the PS2.

I won't vote for the PSX, although I lot of my favourite games are PSX games, because the PS2 can also play those games! It's one of the reasons why I like the Sony consoles.

GameCube for me, there are many high-quality games on the GC so I voted for the GC. Games like Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil REmake, Resident Evil 0, MGS: The Twin Snakes, Metriod Prime 1 & 2, Star Wars: RL 2 & 3 and the yet to be released The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess are the main reason why I voted for the GC.

Another reason I voted for the GC is because it’s actually a better console that the PS2 and the Xbox when it comes to speed and power (just have a look at the difference between Resident Evil 4 on the PS2 and the GC). Also, almost every single multi-platform game (games that get released on the PS2, Xbox & the GC) look and play a lot better on the GC than they do on the other two consoles.

I have a lot of hesitations concerning Twin Snakes. I had a chance to try it since a friend of mine owns it. I though at first that a remake of the good old MGS would be a nice thing. Besides, I allows Nintendo players who never had a chance to play this wonderful series to finally play it. I guess that for those poeple, it's alright. But for long-time fans of the series, Twin Snakes is a little weird. I think the fact that Hideo Kojima didn't get involved directly in the development of the game hurted the final result. The new developpers took some liberties in changing little details, like the storyboard of some cutscenes. I just found weird to see a fight between Snake and the Ninja the first time they meet near President Baker. In the original version, the ninja ran off quickly after he spole a few words. And not talking about the 'Matrix' move that Snake does to get rid of the missile fired by the Hind-D... :?

There are also voices that have been changed, since all dialogs were recorded over. Again, for fans of the original game like me, it's a detail that trully disappointed me.

The gameplay was taken from MGS2 and is not adapted to MGS. Since the MGS2 gameplay is a lot more evolved than the one from MGS, there are a lot of moves you can do in Twin Snakes that are simply useless. It's not a very big deal, but it's still a little strange.

In the end, although the graphic update is nice and that I like it, if you give me the choice between the two versions, I'll choose the original one without hesitations.

My favourite series are all for the PS families: Syphon Filter, Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo and Silent Hill.

I didn't really like MGS: TTS when I first purchased it, but as time went on it grew on me. As I played it more and more I started to get used to the differences and that helped me to enjoy it much more.

I agree with you that the original is the better game (the best computer game ever made in my opinion), but I really do like MGS: TTS nonetheless. Plus, I actually liked seeing snake do a back flip onto a missile and also diving towards a maniac with a mini-gun. 8)

Yeah... Well I'm good with the original MGS. And I wouldn't buy a GameCube just for that, especially since I have the original!

MGS is my favourite series with SF. I'm better at SF though, 'cause I spent more time on it. However, the MGS series really have the best storyline ever for a video game. It's even better than a lot of movies. It gets so intense sometimes... I remember some people complained about the fact that MGS2 had more videos than gameplay! Well it's true that sometimes it gets boring to hear to Colonel explain over and over again how to move around. But for the rest, the scenario is so thrilling that I almost enjoy sitting back and watching the cutscenes more than playing!

I purchased a GameCube mainly so I could play MGS: TTS and the Resident Evil series, since then I have discovered that it’s my favourite console. Also, I was a Nintendo fan back when I was kid in the early 90’s when games were getting really good, so I suppose that has some influence on my decision.

Mate I hear you when it comes to the cut-scenes in the MGS series, I think there should be more cut-scenes. Konami did it very well with MGS3: Snake Eater, one scene goes for about ten minutes because their trying to make the player understand what’s happening.

When people ask me what my favourite movie is, I tell them: Metal Gear Solid. Why? Because I believe that it’s an ‘interactive movie’ (that’s also what Hideo Kojima believes) and as you said the story line is better that a lot of movies.
