I have a lot of hesitations concerning Twin Snakes. I had a chance to try it since a friend of mine owns it. I though at first that a remake of the good old MGS would be a nice thing. Besides, I allows Nintendo players who never had a chance to play this wonderful series to finally play it. I guess that for those poeple, it's alright. But for long-time fans of the series, Twin Snakes is a little weird. I think the fact that Hideo Kojima didn't get involved directly in the development of the game hurted the final result. The new developpers took some liberties in changing little details, like the storyboard of some cutscenes. I just found weird to see a fight between Snake and the Ninja the first time they meet near President Baker. In the original version, the ninja ran off quickly after he spole a few words. And not talking about the 'Matrix' move that Snake does to get rid of the missile fired by the Hind-D...
There are also voices that have been changed, since all dialogs were recorded over. Again, for fans of the original game like me, it's a detail that trully disappointed me.
The gameplay was taken from MGS2 and is not adapted to MGS. Since the MGS2 gameplay is a lot more evolved than the one from MGS, there are a lot of moves you can do in Twin Snakes that are simply useless. It's not a very big deal, but it's still a little strange.
In the end, although the graphic update is nice and that I like it, if you give me the choice between the two versions, I'll choose the original one without hesitations.
My favourite series are all for the PS families: Syphon Filter, Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo and Silent Hill.
